Abstract
A 20-year-old female is presented with pneumobilia. The etiology is obscure. There was no evidence of fistula or gallbladder disease, and the bile cultures were negative. The possibility of sphincter of Oddi incompetence secondary to forced dilatation of the stomach and proximal duodenum is considered. Our experience suggests that in some cases of pneumobilia, serious pathology may be absent.
