Trans-T-Tube Catheterization

Its Use in the Treatment of Postoperative Obstruction of the Common Bile Duct

Welland F. Short, MD; John M. Howard, MD; Warren F. Diven, PhD

AMA Arch Surg. 1971;102(2):136-138.

Abstract

Trans-T-tube biliary catheterization using standard vascular catheters and guidewires has been used to relieve postoperative biliary obstruction. In two cases with long-term biliary drainage following bile duct reconstruction, sediment was dislodged from the tubing, while in another case a catheter was passed through a neoplastic stricture reestablishing drainage.
