Abstract
Choledochoduodenostomy was performed in 14 patients for benign calculous disease of the common bile duct. There were no deaths. No patients experienced postoperative cholangitis or recurrent stones. This is considered to be the result of a widely patent anastomosis, allowing for free flow of duodenal contents both into and out of the common bile duct. Choledochoduodenostomy is a simple, rapid, and safe operation for complicated calculous disease of the common bile duct. It is particularly useful in the high-risk, elderly, and debilitated patient.
