Abstract
A series of 287 undescended testicles was subjected to orchiopexy. In 193 instances (68.3%) a one-stage procedure achieved a satisfactory anatomic result. In 62 instances (21.5%) a two-stage procedure was elected when a one-stage approach was not possible. In 30 of the latter instances this approach was successful, in two instances the testicle was atrophic at the second stage, and in 30 cases the second stage is to be carried out. The remaining 32 cases either underwent orchidectomy or a testicle could not be found; another type procedure was employed with poor results; or records of follow-up were not available. The two-stage orchiopexy offers a good opportunity of achieving a good anatomic result in the "difficult" orchiopexy.
