Intracorporal Shunt Procedure for Priapism

Joseph D. Schmidt, MD

AMA Arch Surg. 1971;103(3):409-410.

Abstract

A corpus cavernosum—corpus spongiosum (intracorporal) shunt satisfactorily alleviated idiopathic priapism in a 20-year-old patient. Early execution of such a procedure preceded by aspiration and heparin sodium flushing of the corpora will prevent or retard the development of corporal fibrosis and impotence.
