M. A. Bankole, MB, BS; S. A. Oduntan, FFARCS; J. O. Oluwasanmi, FRCS; S. O. Itayemi, FRCS; S. Khwaja, FRCS

AMA Arch Surg. 1972;104(3):294-301.

Abstract

An operation for separation was a failure in the case of an ischiopagus Siamese twin. The experience added to those of others suggests that in this particular type of union total separation in the neonatal period should not be attempted, except in a few special centers. Necessary palliative operations to relieve intestinal and urinary obstructions should be used to tide the patient(s) over to later infancy.
