Abstract
A patient had Crohn's disease of the stomach causing antral obstruction. The disease was also present in the ileum. After an initial good response to medical treatment, antral obstruction recurred, and vagotomy and gastroenterostomy were performed. The patient gained 22.6 kg (50 lb) and has been well for one year. Review of the 33 cases reported in the English literature shows that in 12, the disease involved the stomach alone. The radiologic appearance was of carcinoma in one third of the cases. Gastroenterostomy has been the treatment of choice. The importance of adding vagotomy remains to be evaluated.
