John Peter Minton, MD, PhD
AMA Arch Surg. 1973;106(4):503-506.
Abstract
Eight patients with metastatic melanoma were treated with surgical excision of the tumor, chemotherapy, BCG vaccine, and killed mumps virus injections. Five of these eight patients had additional clinical control of their malignant melanoma when killed mumps virus was added to the immunological stimulation sequence. The dramatic clinical benefit of immunologic stimulation with killed mumps virus in melanoma patients is believed to be transient.
