Abstract
A 58-year-old man suffered massive, life-threatening hemoptysis secondary to cavitary tuberculosis. Silicone elastomer augmentation mammoplasty prostheses were inserted for cavitary collapse and as an urgent measure to control hemoptysis, with use of the well-known technique of extracostal subperiosteal plombage. Hemoptysis was controlled, and a 12-month follow-up indicates excellent stability of the plombage without recurrence of the hemoptysis and no evidence of infection.
