Abstract
Two cases of traumatic abdominal aortic aneurysm from blunt trauma are presented. Both were accompanied by partial aortic occlusion. In one case the aneurysm was of the dissecting variety; in the other it was a dilation proximal to a nearly total aortic obstruction. Both were successfully treated by operation, one using aortic resection with knitted Dacron graft replacement, and the other by abdominal aortic thromboendarterectomy. A review of the literature shows posttraumatic aneurysm to be rare in the abdominal aorta.
