Abstract
Lymphography of the thyroid gland performed percutaneously using iodized oil (Lipiodol) was used to study 40 patients with various thyroid disorders. The technique showed, in the solitary thyroid nodule, a filling defect in well-outlined thyroid parenchyma; in thyroid cyst, a cavity with a fluid level; in multinodular goiter, multiple filling defects; in carcinoma, a "patchy-wool" appearance. Cervical lymph nodes were visualized in 70% and mediastinal lymph nodes in 10% of the patients. The overall accuracy rate was 90%; in solitary nodule, it was 77%. No complications were encountered.
