Double gastroenterostomy tube in gastric surgery
H. Schanzer
This report describes a new double gastroenterostomy tube. It has been used
in patients where delayed oral feedings are anticipated, ie, a perforated
duodenal ulcer, suture-plicated, with stenosis of the duodenum; a duodenal
ulcer with outlet obstruction treated with vagotomy and gastroenterostomy;
and patients with chronic lung disease undergoing gastric surgery and
requiring postoperative respiratory assistance. Its use has proved to be
beneficial, and it is cheap and allows early enteric feeding.
