Traumatic Asplenia in AdultsA Defined Hazard?

Abstract
The problem of postsplenectomy sepsis in adults with traumatic asplenia was reviewed and discussed. Alternatives to splenectomy should be considered when feasible, and pneumococcal vaccination and prophylactic antibiotics are necessary when splenectomy is unavoidable.
