The Top 10 Reasons Why General Surgery Is a Great Career

Richard C. Thirlby, MD

Arch Surg. 2007;142(5):423-429.

It is an honor to stand before you with the opportunity to deliver the Presidential Address for the annual meeting of the Western Surgical Association (WSA). I have gained more from the WSA than I could ever return. To serve as the secretary for 5 years and the president this year represents the peak of my professional life. It is an honor that I will always cherish, and for which I will be forever grateful.
