This book, in its second edition and eighth printing, is designed as "a main revision guide and as a preferred concise mini-textbook of reference in surgery." I congratulate the editor and author of the overwhelming majority of the book on compiling an impressive survey of general surgery and related subjects. Al-Fallouji, a consultant in gastrointestinal surgery in the United Kingdom, has tailored the text for use by physicians preparing for the board examination administered by the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (England, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ireland, Australasia, and Canada).
