As a long-awaited and much needed addition to the trauma literature, The Trauma Manual is an excellent resource for all clinicians, from resident to experienced practioner. This comprehensive, pocket-sized manual contains essential information about all aspects of care for injured patients, from the prehospital phase to rehabilitation. Not only are the clinical aspects of care addressed, but data are provided on topics such as the mechanisms of injury. For example, the graphic representation of the forces involved in creating a wound and the differences in kinetic energy between the various caliber bullets and the associated tissue destruction is described.

The chapters are well written, concise, and organized so that the book can be used as a reference during the resuscitation of an injured patient or as a resource for the management of patients throughout their hospitalization.
