This book represents an extensive and detailed review of pancreatic cancer done with the experience of 37 experts from the United States, Europe, and Asia. The book is divided into 3 parts, beginning with a fully outlined description of all the basic and molecular concepts that have been described in pancreatic cancer and followed by the current knowledge of diagnostic techniques, staging, and treatments.

The chapter addressing pathogenesis is consistent with the explosion of information identifying critical factors in the oncogenesis of adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. The editor and the chapter author clearly address the majority of current themes and ideas related to this tumor. Specifically, the review of data regarding oncogene (K-ras) tumor suppressor genes (p53, p16, and DPC4) and oncogenesis growth factors (FGF, EGF) is superb.
