THE Archives of Surgery is pleased to announce Archives Express. This initiative has been created to provide rapid peer review, editorial evaluation, subsequent revision, and release for publication of manuscripts of seminal importance.
Publication delays of a manuscript are multifactorial (ie, have occurred due to the researcher, editor, peer reviewer, revision by author, and the availability of journal space).
Manuscripts eligible for consideration for Archives Express should be high-quality, rigorously conducted research studies that report new important information. The highest priority will be given to randomized controlled trials; however, cohort studies and other designs may meet these criteria.1
To accomplish this goal, (1) the editors will screen manuscripts before formal submission, (2) manuscripts will undergo the same rigorous peer review process as other scientific articles, (3) the peer review process will be completed within 72 hours, and (4) a request for revision must be completed by the author within 72 . . .
