The motor function of the axillary nerve is tested by abduction of the shoulder, the musculocutaneous nerve by flexion of the elbow, the radial nerve by extension of the thumb, the median nerve by flexion of the thumb at the interphalangeal joint, and the ulnar nerve by abduction of the index finger.1
