I am pleased to inform the Archives of Surgery readers that Dr Julie Ann Freischlag, The William Stewart Halsted Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Md, has been appointed as the eighth Editor of the Archives of Surgery effective January 1, 2005. We welcome her to this position with enthusiasm. Dr Freischlag will follow previous editors, namely, Drs Dan Lewis, Lester Dragstedt, Richard Warren, Waltman Walters, J. Garrett Allen, and Arthur Baue.
