Dr John Connolly’s reminiscence of the Loyal Davis’ Honorary Fellowship in the March issue of ARCHIVES brought back a couple of memories for me. My wife Joan and I also attended the ceremony and the black tie dinner that evening. We had been told to arrive shortly before 6:00 PM, when President and Mrs Ronald Reagan were expected. We were warned to be on time because no one would be admitted after President Reagan arrived. As a result, there were a couple dozen guests in line at about 5:50 PM, when the Reagans appeared ahead of schedule. There was a hurried push to get us all inside on time.
