This review guide of 36 chapters effectively uses a problem-based approach to fulfill its role as a review guide for fourth-year medical students, house officers, and even practicing surgeons. This review is not suited for a primary reference, and readers should have a reasonable grasp of general surgery, having at least read one of the fundamental surgical texts before using this book as a recall aid. Because the authors are principally surgical trainees or young practicing surgeons, information is presented in straightforward, concise manner.
This highly readable reference is well suited for review prior to examinations. The format throughout the book uses a case-based question followed by a dividing line and a very brief answer.
