The winter meeting of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) was held from January 6 through 10, 2007, under the chairmanship of Dr Courtney Townsend, and was attended by 34 directors, 21 members of component boards and advisory councils, 2 guests, and 8 staff. A retreat was held on January 7 with invited guests Drs L. D. Britt and J. David Richardson, chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Residency Review Committee for Surgery (RRC-S). The component boards, advisory councils, and examination committees met on January 8, and the standing committees and full board met on January 9 and 10. Herein I provide a summary of the major actions taken (Table).
