New Board Members Announcement

The Archives is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished surgeons Diana L. Farmer, MD, David C. Linehan, MD, and George C. Velmahos, MD, PhD, MSEd, to our Editorial Board and Ismail M. Khalil, MD, to our International Advisory Board.

Diana L. Farmer, MD, received her medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, and completed her residency in general surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She also completed a research fellowship in surgical oncology at UCSF and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit. Dr Farmer is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is presently a professor in the departments of surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at UCSF, chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and vice chair of the Department of Surgery at UCSF, and surgeon-in-chief at UCSF Children's Hospital.

Diana L. Farmer, MD


David C. Linehan, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, and completed his residency in surgery at the Deaconess-Harvard Surgical Service of the Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. He also completed a research fellowship in surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, and a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York. Dr Linehan is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is presently an associate professor of surgery in the Section of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, Missouri.

David C. Linehan, MD


George C. Velmahos, MD, PhD, MSEd, received his medical degree from the University of Athens Medical School, Athens, Greece. He received his PhD from the same institution and his master's degree in medical education from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Dr Velmahos is certified by the Greek Board of Surgery, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is presently a professor of surgery at the Harvard Medical School and chief of the Division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.

George C. Velmahos, MD, PhD, MSEd


Ismail M. Khalil, MD, received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his residency at the same institution. He also completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at the New York University Medical Center, New York. Dr Khalil is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has held appointments at the New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center, New York. He is presently a professor of surgery, the former chair of the Department of Surgery, and the current chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at the American University of Beirut.
