The most important point that can be made about this book is that it has been devoted to burns of the upper extremity and has been published in the series devoted to major problems in clinical surgery. This is a very important acknowledgment. All too often the physician in the emergency room or in a private office fails to appreciate the potential impact of burn trauma to the hand and to the patient—from a medical, surgical, functional, and psychological point of view.

The message this book brings must be delivered to every and any physician who has the responsibility of healing a patient with burned hands. As Dr J.E.
