Cryogenics, the study of the effects of very low temperatures, has evolved over the years into an established field in medicine. Born in the 19th century as a mode of the treatment of skin cancer, cryotherapy has now developed into a respectable method to treat benign and malignant neoplasm in many areas. Cryosurgical Advances is an attempt by the editor, Dr Zacarian, to compile the works of varied specialists with significant personal experiences in this field.

Dr Zacarian covers the history of the development of the field and instruments, as well as techniques in employing cryotherapy to skin tumors in his vast experience in treating over 2,000 skin cancers. The other chapters by the contributing authors cover the treatment of vascular anomalies and different cancers of the head and neck area.
