This first-edition book is a delightful addition to the oncologic literature. Considering the rapid expansion of knowledge and available literature in this field, it is a tribute to the authors and editor that such a useful reference covering the full spectrum of surgical oncology is now available. Virtually all surgical specialities are included.

The text is concise, the tables pertinent, the figures self explanatory, and the pictures appropriate. This book is enjoyable to read. Each chapter contains well-referenced information covering pertinent, up-to-date aspects of the specific neoplasm, organ systems, or pathologic tissue considered. Particular attention is focused on general principles of surgical oncology and treatment of the total patient. When appropriate, special emphasis is placed on accurate diagnosis, workup, tumor staging, intraoperative techniques, and postoperative care and treatment.
