In Reply.—I am not sure that Dr Alexander and I are in substantive disagreement. We are, apparently, in some relative disagreement about how far the data in his article can be pushed in drawing fair conclusions.

The thrust of my "Editorial Comment" was to alert the reader to the fact that certain claims in the article were not supported by data. In particular, claims of superior adhesiveness of the revised version of the polyester-povidone film, and of cost savings resulting from its use, are not documented. Dr Alexander may well be correct in his assumptions about the use of the product he champions. But, I would be more persuaded if hard data had been presented. I look forward to the publication of such data and its corroboration by others. At the moment, however, claims about adhesiveness and cost saving remain speculative because of the absence of the appropriate data. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
