To the Editor.—In the article by Odou and O'Connell¹ published in the October 1986 issue of the ARCHIVES, the authors refer to the "Dukes classification" (or "Dukes' classification") as "Duke's classification," thus altering the last name of Dr Cuthbert E. Dukes to Duke.

We should all learn the name Dr Dukes, the pathologist at St Mark's Hospital, London, who developed the classification system of rectal cancer—the Dukes classification. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
