In Reply.—We are grateful for the opportunity to reemphasize the dangerous delayed complication of fentanyl. The high dose of the drug was given as the primary anesthetic agent, not as a supplementary "analgesic" agent. Since we were unaware of this complication, we believe that it is worthwhile bringing it to the attention of other general surgeons, to prevent them committing the same error. . . .
