To the Editor.—In the June 1988 issue of the ARCHIVES, Street and associates¹ analyzed their experience with simple ligation vs stump inversion in appendectomy and found that simple ligation of the appendiceal stump is the preferred procedure.

My own experience confirms these authors' findings. During the last several years, I have performed simple ligation of the appendiceal stump with the LDS (Auto Suture Co, Division of US Surgical Corp, Norwalk, Conn) stapler² in 133 cases and have encountered no complications.
