This is a collection of 92 chapters excised from the well-known multivolume series of surgical atlases that has been a standard reference for British and American surgeons for over 40 years. First edited by Charles Robb and Lord Smith, it has recently been the handiwork of Hugh Dudley and colleagues from both sides of the Atlantic. The current volume is an anthology of subjects that the editors believe will be particularly helpful to the practicing general surgeon. This is, of course, a market that has not been overlooked by other medical book publishers. The current volume has the advantage of excellent illustrations, wisely written commentaries, and proven performance in the original volumes. A subtitle of this second edition might be "The Best of Dudley."
