A New Editor for the ARCHIVES

The American Medical Association is proud to announce the appointment of Claude H. Organ, Jr, MD, as Editor of the Archives of Surgery.

The selection of Dr Organ was the result of the most exhaustive search process in recent AMA history. As is the custom, a search committee comprising several of the leading figures in the specialty was formed, with the Editor of one of the other AMA Specialty Journals—in this case, William W McLendon, MD, of the Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine—serving as chairman. The initial call for nominations resulted in more than 75 letters of recommendation; the initial list of candidates read like a Who's Who of the surgical field. The committee assiduously pared this number down to 30 active candidates.
