SUBMUCOUS LIPOMA OF COLON

History.

—Mrs. H. S., aged 47, was admitted to the wards of the General Hospital on June 27, 1927, with the following history:

In September, 1926, she had been taken ill rather suddenly with cramplike abdominal pain accompanied by vomiting, without other associated symptoms. A diagnosis of appendicitis had been made; operation performed within twelve hours disclosed negative evidence in the appendix. Following the operation, however, she was well until March, 1927, when she had a similar attack of cramplike pain, which lasted about thirty hours. In the middle of the attack, she passed a blood stained stool. From that time until admission to the hospital, she had ten attacks of shorter duration than the first. In four of these, she passed stools containing blood and mucus.
