This report is based on a study of 80 cases of fracture of the skull in patients under 12 years of age admitted to the Children's Memorial Hospital during the years from 1913 to 1930, inclusive. It includes all proved cases of fracture of the skull, the records of which are available, in the charity service during that period. All the cases included were proved to be cases of fracture of the skull by roentgen examination or by roentgen examination and operation at which the fracture was actually demonstrated. All doubtful cases have been excluded from this report because of the great confusion that exists in medical literature regarding the prognosis and treatment in fracture of the skull. It is believed that by basing this study only on proved cases definite conclusions may be drawn. It is probable that some cases of fracture of the skull were in the hospital . . .
