The occurrence of basal cell carcinoma in a person under 20 years of age is extremely rare. A case of such a growth in a girl aged 13 years is presented.

REPORT OF CASE

P. I., in February 1940, six months before being seen in this clinic, first noticed a small lump in the scalp, directly over the inion. It slowly increased in size but was never painful or otherwise disturbing. Two months later she consulted a physician, who incised the mass. There was no change in the size or progress of the lesion, and it healed over uneventfully. The mass slowly grew larger, and at the time she was first seen by me (in the outpatient department of the Strong Memorial Hospital) it was about 1 cm. in diameter.
