NEUROFIBROMA of the stomach is a relatively rare benign tumor. This fact alone seems to warrant a presentation of this subject, with a report of a case in which there was also an associated benign gastric ulcer below the stalk of the tumor.

The tumor was described for the first time by Askanazy.¹ A survey of the literature revealed an incidence of neurofibroma of less than 5 per cent among all benign tumors of the stomach reported. Minnes and Geschickter² in 1936 collected 931 reported cases of benign tumors, of which 102 were classified as neurofibromas. Paul and Chapman,³ in 1,500 consecutive gastroscopic examinations, found only one neurofibroma, whereas Judd and Hoerner⁴ found a neurofibroma in 50 cases of benign gastric tumors.
