THE HIGH incidence of nasopharyngeal tumors among the Chinese has been noted by many observers. In Singapore, a colony which has a cosmopolitan population, but in which the majority are people of Chinese race, the opportunity is afforded to study these tumors and to compare their relative incidence in different ethnic groups. The problems raised in a study of this condition are numerous, and for many years research work has been undertaken on various aspects. It is proposed to carry out a series of studies collating previous findings with more recent research and to approach the problem from different aspects. The first paper contains an analysis of the clinical findings.

One hundred twenty cases of nasopharyngeal tumors seen in the General Hospital, Singapore, during the years 1947 to 1953, have been studied; 46 patients were seen at first hand, and the remaining information was obtained from the case records. For . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
