Report of a Case in a Pregnant Woman

Since 1949, when Gross¹⁰ published the first cases of aortic grafts for coarctation, several surgeons have reported similar successful cases (Dubost,^6-8 Oeconomos,¹⁴ Brock,¹⁵ Sellors,¹⁶ Cooley²).

In a total of 14 coarctations successfully operated upon, we encountered 2 aneurysms, of which the first was lying on an intercostal artery and the second on the descending aorta. The cases concerned women 28 and 29 years of age, respectively. In the first case, after the resection of the stenosis with the intercostal aneurysm, an end-to-end anastomosis was easily obtained, whereas in the second case, owing to the size of the aneurysm and its localization, a Dacron reconstitution of the aorta was performed.

The above-mentioned case that concerned a pregnant woman aged 28 is reported both for its rarity and for its interest.
