Skeletal Metastases in Cystosarcoma Phylloides

The purpose of this paper is to report a case of skeletal metastases in cystosarcoma phylloides and to review 275 cases collected from the literature with particular reference to incidence of such malignant variants. Although a few cases with skeletal metastases have been reported, the subject itself has never been given separate consideration.

Cystosarcoma phylloides is a variety of fibroepithelial tumor related to the adenoma of the breast.2 Johannes Müller6 classified this tumor in 1838 as a separate entity from adenofibroma. Since then the wide morphological variations of the tumor have been recognized, and the concepts of its behavior and criteria of its pathological diagnosis have undergone considerable changes.
