The purpose of this paper is to present a case of pericardial diverticulum with the unique complication of pulmonary obstruction.

Reports of pericardial diverticula have appeared from time to time in the literature. A large radiological series is available, but extremely few cases have been proved at operation. Brown and Dunn³ reporting in 1951 were able to include with their own case only 6 others from the extant literature^2,8,14,16,20 accepting as true or congenital diverticula only those in whose walls both pericardial layers were represented and for which no other probable etiologic factor was demonstrated. Since that date 5 cases have been added, 2 by Fleishaker et al.⁵ in 1958, 2 by Maier¹² in 1957, and 1 by Bishop et al.¹ in 1950.
